One step closer to a new arena
The owner of Telenor Arena has, in collaboration with the Norwegian Handball Federation, worked for two years with plans for both interior and exterior redesign of the arena. The project is proceeding at full speed and a period of municipal treatment awaits in the coming months with a regulatory process and a study of the municipality's involvement in a new arena. These are very exciting plans that will bring the new arena up in the absolute top arena league in an international context.
The new Fornebu Arena will be a vibrant, diverse and social arena for sports and culture. The facility will function both as an everyday arena and as an arena for large events. There will always be activities in the building and add to the area a lively atmosphere and help create a local meeting place for Fornebu and the surrounding region. The project must appear inviting and inclusive for all and the expression must be based on Norwegian values and building customs. It is emphasized that the project itself will also be a local attraction with a Nordic identity that is locally rooted.
Fornebu Arena will be an important meeting place locally in Bærum, regionally for Oslo / Viken as well as nationally and internationally. It should be possible for activities to take place throughout the week, throughout the year and provide the area with a good basis for further growth. Fornebu Arena will function as a qualitative meeting place for the locals, the municipality and the region's inhabitants. In addition, the future facility will house many functions and help to further revitalize the place. The architecture must radiate the building's modern function and contemporary pulse.
